The LGA Foundation 12 Days of Christmas Campaign 2024: The Bostey – Day 8

On the eighth day of Christmas my good friends brought to me…🎁

As part of The LGA Foundation’s 12 Days of Christmas Campaign 🎁 The Bostey have used their funding to provide; 8 Christmas craft sessions, 3 Christmas parties, a Christmas panto and a carol service for the community!

The Bostey held a community Christmas carol service in the garden, which was attended by Father Christmas himself! This has enabled families to unite as one and share the Christmas spirit together as one community. The delicious turkey sandwiches, roasties and sweet mince pies went down a treat with everyone. They even had their special dance team put on a Christmas performance for everyone.During the Christmas party, the Grinch was the guest of honour and was very clumsy and hilarious – The children adored him. The young people were also given a Christmas dinner, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

The Bostey held a community Christmas panto of Puss-in-Boots – This was enjoyed by everyone, young and old – With the traditiona; “Oh no its not!”. The panto was attended by over 150 parents, children and young people from the community.  The children and young people involved with The Bostey have also made beautiful handmade crafts to take home as gifts for their friends, families and teachers. This includes Christmas cakes, baubles, wreaths, snow globes, crackers, soaps and chocolate truffles!

“Once again, the LGA Foundation has made the run up to Christmas extra special for everyone involved with The Bostey’s 12 days of Christmas campaign. We are forever grateful for your continued help and support, the smiles off everyone are treasured memories.”

The Bostey plays a leading role in planning and developing collaborative projects with other partners in the East End of the city of Newcastle. Their services are aimed at local families, children and young people. They team deliver youth sessions over 5 days per week as the demand for our services have increased. The team have been delivering face-to-face sessions to the ‘vulnerable’ children and young people since the summer of 2021 and have received fantastic feedback from the community. Each year the number of people receiving support from The Bostey grows due to the opportunities they offer. The Bostey has worked with 200+ children and young people aged 8 – 19 years old.
