On the sixth day of Christmas my good friends brought to me…🎁
As part of The LGA Foundation’s 12 Days of Christmas Campaign 🎁 used their funds to plan and deliver “A Christmas Celebration Extravaganza” for all the family to enjoy. The young carers were able to rent out Customs House South Shields cinema and Ocean Beach Pleasure Park ice rink. They watched the family film, Elf, and enjoyed some ice skating. The aim of the extravaganza was to provide a safe space for young carer families to meet one another, make positive memories and have fun without barriers or judgement. It allowed everyone to feel a sense of community and to make Christmas a happy and special time for all in attendance.
Activities like these are not always possible for the families, due to complex health conditions and caring roles, however the funds from LGA Foundation made that possible. The young carers also distributed food and present vouchers to families in need of that little extra support.
“Thank you for inviting us to these activities, for making me feel like I belong and that I’m not alone. It’s been amazing, Merry Christmas!”
