On the fourth day of Christmas my good friends brought to me…🎁
As part of The LGA Foundation’s 12 Days of Christmas Campaign 🎁 Acorns Youth Panel have been busy during December making Christmas a little brighter for Acorns families! They have used their funding to put together Christmas Food Hampers and have been working hard to source everything a family might need for a lovely Christmas Day. Today is packing day, Michael Bublé and Mariah are providing the sound track, and there may be the odd festive bake and mince pie involved too! Later in the week is delivery day, with the support of Acorns workers.
Acorns works with families affected by their traumatic experiences of domestic abuse, offering a wide range of services to support them with their recovery. Christmas can be a very stressful time for parents who are just getting back on their feet, and facing a number of challenges such as settling into a new home. This year, these families have additional challenges to overcome – we are all aware of the cost of living increases, and the increases in energy bills, which means that parents need to make money go further, so we know that these hampers will make a huge difference.
Acorns Youth Panel is made up of young people who have worked with either Acorns or their partner services, and who now want to draw on their experiences to make a difference. The panel focuses on the impact that unsafe and unhealthy relationships can have on young people and they work closely with local organisations and authorities to share their views and make positive changes for young people across the region.
