The LGA Foundation 12 Days of Christmas Campaign 2023: CREST

On the sixth day of Christmas my good friends brought to me…🎁

As part of The LGA Foundation’s 12 Days of Christmas Campaign 🎁 CREST has been spreading warm winter wishes to everyone who walks through their doors. With cultural festive music playing to welcome guests, the team served warm spiced chai and creamy hot chocolates for everyone enjoying the warmth and out of a chilly winter’s day. CREST have created winter parcels to distribute to members and have held a drop in food bank to support their members throughout the festive period. The winter parcels contain gloves, toiletries and snacks as a small help over what is a difficult time for many members during the cost of living crisis. Smiles, laughter and hugs were the theme of the day as members enjoyed company and a cozy northern ‘cuppa’ with an Asian twist.

Crest, which stands for ‘Compact for Race Equality in South Tyneside’ aims to promote racial equality and to assist people from the communities in South Tyneside (and further afield) to enjoy a better quality of life. By supporting those in need to gain access to education, training and employment, to raise aspirations and ensure their voice is heard. CREST helps Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups in the South Tyneside area who are in need of support to integrate into wider society, through a series of projects based around identity, employability an equality. CREST helps people of all ages and gender to become better informed to enable them to make informed decisions that affect their lives. This is achieved through themed community events, community consultations, training programmes, one-to-one and job search support.
