West End Women and Girls Centre

West End Women and Girls Centre (WEWG) has been working with women and girls in the West End of Newcastle since 1981.

The Centre provides support through group work where the members have the opportunity to meet, have fun, learn skills, look at issues relevant to their lives and generally build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

WEWG has also built a well deserved reputation for its work tackling domestic violence through the Safe Project.

Through its involvement in innovative  projects such as the West End Community Bakery and Edible Elswick projects it is a powerful advocate of healthy eating and lifestyles.

“West End Women and Girls Centre are grateful for the kind donation from the LGA Foundation. The money will be used to provide activities and services to women and girls from the West End of Newcastle. In the current financial climate, donations like this are more important than ever in keeping grassroots neighbourhood organisations like ourselves afloat and we cannot thank the LGA Foundation enough.“ Huffty McHugh, Coordinator for West End Women and Girls
