Kids Kabin takes mobile trailer workshops into disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Newcastle and Middlesbrough and runs street pottery, cookery, woodwork and bike repair workshops for children.
Children, aged seven to 13 years, take part in practical, hands on activities on their terms and in their streets. They learn new skills and then share these skills, boosting their self-confidence and enabling them to play active and positive roles in their community. Over the winter months, these street workshops move into local community centres or church halls.

How we helped
Will Benson, manager, Kids Kabin, said: “Kids Kabin commits to supporting children and families in disadvantaged communities and we are now working in Walker, Pottery Bank, Daisy Hill, Byker and Cowgate in Newcastle. Core funding such as this is crucial in enabling us to commit to neighbourhoods in the long term – vital in building trust and relationships and enabling change.
“Each year we work with over 1,000 children and young people in Newcastle and this funding will play an important part in supporting this work.”
