Investing in the Next Generation of North East Changemakers

What if the next generation of changemakers already has the ideas, passion and determination to make a difference, but simply lacks the roadmap to turn those ideas into reality?

The LGA Foundation is supporting Junction Point CIC with a £5,000 grant to fund five Young Changemaker Bursaries, providing young people aged 18–24 with the skills, confidence and practical support needed to transform ideas into impactful social enterprises.

The bursary programme has been designed for young people who are passionate about tackling social challenges, strengthening communities or creating purpose-driven businesses, but who may not have access to the networks, knowledge or resources needed to take the next step.

Each funded bursary place includes:

• A fully funded Level 2 Qualification in Starting & Developing a Social Enterprise
• Ten hours of personalised one-to-one coaching and mentoring
• Practical support to develop an idea into a deliverable project or enterprise
• Training focused on building sustainable organisations where social impact and financial viability work hand in hand

At the LGA Foundation, we believe that some of the most innovative solutions to society’s challenges come from the people closest to them. Young people often bring fresh perspectives, creativity and determination, yet many face barriers when it comes to accessing opportunities, guidance and support.

By investing in these bursaries, we are not only supporting five individuals. We are investing in stronger communities, more resilient social enterprises and a future social economy rooted in purpose, innovation and local impact.
