How we helped
The centre offers carers access to individually tailored information, advice and support. This includes one-to-one and peer support groups and mental health and counselling services. There are also a range of activities on offer for both adult and young carers.
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for carers in North Tyneside
The young carers team provide practical and emotional support to young carers around their caring role. They also offer a breaks and activities service so that young carers take a break from caring, explore new activities and aspirations and make friends with other young people in similar situations.
The funding from the LGA Foundation has enabled the charity to employ two sessional playworkers who have worked with a group of children on several projects in the centre’s adventure playground. Activities have included refurbishing play huts and growing their own vegetables.
These projects have helped to increase confidence and life skills for the children who have participated and have given the children a real sense of ownership in the adventure playground.
